W
hen manufacturing machinery, mobil-
ity or transportability usually means
one thing: being forced to compromise
owing to restrictions on weight and dimen-
sions. Often, mobile machines cost more to
produce in real terms than their static coun-
terparts and, as a result, could be seen as over-
priced in general terms. Their performance
is also a compromise and greatly inferior to
static machinery. This can become the root
cause of delays and problems which end up
impairing a yard’s production capacity and
therefore business prospects.
These factors have always deterred Vez-
zani from entering the already-crowded mo-
bile machinery segment which has become
accustomed to accepting as a fact of life the
detrimental effects of accumulated compro-
mises.
Finding new solutions
However, Vezzani also acknowledges a
real need among some scrap processors for
mobility coupled with performance; price is
not always the deciding factor. The Vezzani
position is that a well-designed, high-perfor-
mance machine with the lowest OPEX will
always turn out to be the best choice for any
scrap processor’s profits and business well-
