BUSINESS
Nevada’s first e-scrap
processing facility
evTerra Recycling, a subsidiary
of e-scrap recycling major Igneo
Technologies, has opened its
doors in Henderson, Nevada.
The state-of-the-art recycling
centre held a special opening
ceremony in February.
The new facility is approximately 10 000 m2
and has the capacity to handle some 45 000
tonnes of electronic scrap annually with its US$
5 million (EUR 4.7 million) shredding and sort-
ing line. The plant is claimed to be the first of
its kind in the Las Vegas area.
There were several honourable attendees at
the event including James Gibson, chair of
Clark County Commission, Nevada, Michael
Naft, District A Commissioner for Clark County
and Eric Cardona, a regional representative
who attended on behalf of Senator Jacky
Rosen. Commissioners Gibson and Naft spoke
briefly and declared 9 February ‘evTerra
Recycling Day’ in the county.
GLOBAL LEADER
Other speakers at the event included Brian
Diesselhorst, chief global commercial officer of
Igneo Technologies and Jeff Gloyd, president
of evTerra Recycling. Igneo Technologies is the
parent company of evTerra Recycling and was
recently acquired for by Korea Zinc, a global
leader in the recycling and production of non-
ferrous and precious metals. The event stirred
up quite a bit of press reporting and was cov-
ered by ABC-13 KTNV Las Vegas. ‘The fastest
growing segment of waste is electronics,’
stressed Gloyd. ‘We’re here to support the
proper recycling of those electronics devices.’
ON A GROWTH PATH
evTerra Recycling currently operates from four
electronics recycling facilities across the US at:
Atlanta, Georgia; Elgin, Illinois; San Antonio,
Texas and Henderson, Nevada. The four loca-
tions can receive and process approximately
180 000 tonnes of e-scrap per year. evTerra
manages electronics scrap for global and
national brands, governments, non-profit
organisations, and small and medium business-
es. Both data and non-data containing devices
are received and shredded into recyclable
commodities such as steel, aluminium, plastics
as well as precious metals from circuit boards.
The Henderson facility has been recommend-
ed for US e-Stewards, NAID AAA and RIOS
certifications and is expecting to receive the
certifications by the end of March 2023.
