The first OEA international alu-
minium recycling congress was
held in 1990 and has since devel-
oped into a renowned international
event in the field of aluminium re-
cycling. Run by the Organisation of
European Aluminium Refiners and
Remelters (OEA), the congress has
a reputation for attracting presen-
tations of a high technical stan-
dard. Acknowledged experts will
present their views on topics of in-
terest to the aluminium recycling
industry in Europe and other re-
gions of the world.
Vienna has been chosen as the
venue because the city signifies to
some extent where the West meets
the East. This will also be reflected
in the presentations which cover,
among other subjects, the global di-
mension of aluminium recycling;
the European aluminium recycling
industry in a globalised world; the
importance of new EU member
states to the recycling of alumini-
um; the Russian aluminium recy-
cling industry and its importance
