Storms disrupt US steelmaking

United States – Three EAF mini-mills in the United States have been unable to melt new steel after losing their power supply during recent storms in Alabama and Mississippi in the south of the country.
According to ‘steel market update’ Tennessee Valley Authority has begun reconnecting customers including the three affected mini-mills, Nucor Decatur, Nucor Tuscaloosa and Severstal Columbus.
