Steel dust recycling plants for Turkey

Turkey – The Befesa Industrial Residue Recycling Division of Spanish technology company Abengoa is planning to construct two steel dust recycling facilities in Turkey – at Izmir and Adana

Befesa operates in Turkey through a joint venture with Canadian company Silvermet Inc., and this will invest around US$ 120 million in building the two plants, each of which is expected to treat around 110 000 tonnes of steel dust per year and to produce more than 80 000 tonnes of washed waelz oxide – a zinc-rich final product – which will be exported.
According to Befesa, all necessary environmental and construction permits should be obtained by early 2013 and the plants are expected to commence operations in the second half of 2014.
