Belgium/pPoland – Bulk material cranes manufacturer E-Crane, part of Belgian engineering company Indusign NV, has acquired Polish player Famaba.
According to E-Crane, this move means it fully owns ‘a strategic supplier of high-grade steel’ for its specialisation in the fabrication of large steel constructions, such as components for telecommunication, shipyard and overhead cranes. Famaba will remain ‘an important European player in the market for foundations and towers for wind turbines’, notes the Belgian manufacturer.
‘Within the E-Crane Group, Famaba will be operating as a fully independent unit,’ E-Crane adds. The ‘already-excellent’ co-operation will result in a substantial increase in capacity for assembling harbour cranes at its Adegem location while also delivering major logistics savings.
Currently employing 275 people, the Polish steel company’s revenues exceeded US$ 20 million (Euro 16 million) last year. All workers will be kept on, including those at the Dutch and US subsidiaries, and ‘a further expansion is under consideration’, states E-Crane.
