Netherlands / Germany – The Ecore metals trading and recycling group is acquiring 70% of the share capital of German recycler Schrott Wetzel.
The acquisition ‘will reinforce Ecore’s position as a leader on the European market’, says the group which is based in the Dutch capital Amsterdam.
With its headquarters in Mannheim, the Schrott Wetzel group is the fifth largest recycling company in Germany and focuses mainly on the ferrous market. It processes some 900 000 tonnes per year at its 13 sites in Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Belgium.
The acquisition is expected to generate synergies for both companies, partly thanks to their complementary processing locations as well as their common technical and industrial developments. Together across all families of products, the two companies generate annual volumes approaching 4 million tonnes, originating from the groups’ 82 sites in Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, India and China.
With the integration of Schrott Wetzel, the Ecore group will hold a leading position in Europe’s two largest markets, namely Germany and France.
