United States – Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman has acquired the Reamer Recycling Inc. scrap metal operation at Ithaca in the state of New York. The acquisition follows the opening earlier this month of the company’s scrap facility at the Port of Albany, also in New York state.
‘Reamer Recycling is the Finger Lakes’ largest scrap yard and we are thrilled to have them as a part of our network,’ says Adam Weitsman, president of Upstate Shredding. ‘We will be fully paving the facility, redoing the buildings, and bringing in brand new equipment.’
Based in Owego, New York, Upstate Shredding is also planning to undertake landscaping and fencing work. ‘We want to bring this location back to its prominence as a scrap recycling leader,’ Weitsman explains.
Acquisition of other yards in New York and Pennsylvania by the Ben Weitsman family ‘are currently under discussion and will be announced soon’, he adds.
