Solar panel recycling sector has healthy future

The global solar panel recycling market will be worth US$ 2 billion (EUR 1.8 billion) in revenue by 2035 having reached US$ 1 billion in 2022.

Small scale photovoltaic (PV) systems on rooftops are the most popular, according to analysts at Research Nester. They predict the solar panel recycling niche will witness 38% compound annual growth between 2025 and 2035.

As well as consumers, more businesses are embracing solar power, which represented 4% of worldwide energy used in 2021. Additionally, big corporations and governments have planned several large-scale PV projects to cut back on fossil fuels and energy costs. This is expected to significantly drive market growth.

Recyclers in the Asia Pacific region will gain the most revenue by 2035, the analysts believe. Here, collaborative efforts between government bodies, the solar industry and environmental organisations have increased by 20%

Meanwhile, recyclers in North America will see the biggest growth in activity. The US and Canada contribute to over 30% of the global solar capacity.
