Sims Recycling Solutions grabs new Guinness record

United States – Sims Recycling Solutions, the global leader in electronics reuse and recycling, has set a certified Guinness World Record for recycling around 80 000 pounds of e-waste on this year’€™s Earth Day, held on April 22.

The US-based company secured the best result in the ‘€˜most consumer electronics recycled within 24 hours at multiple venues’€™ discipline. This success was owed to elaborate collection events organised across seven US states, among them Texas and New York.

Calling it a ‘€˜remarkle accomplishment’€™, Sims’€™ President Steve Skurnac acknowledged the ‘€˜effort of many dedicated individuals’€™, including those who flocked to the drop-off points as well as the 80 employees working at these designated sites.

‘€˜Perhaps more important, though, is the fact that in the process of setting this record Sims Recycling Solutions diverted thousands of pounds of electronic waste from local landfills and focused much-needed attention on why recycling electronics is necessary,’€™ he adds.

At around the same time, Sims also ran collection events in Austria, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, the UK, India and South Africa.
