United States – Texas-based mobile phone recycler eRecyclingCorps (eRC) will relocate its international headquarters to Brussels following its acquisition of Zone Impact, a provider of a similar phone trade-in service in the Belgian market.
After receiving a US$ 35 million financial injection from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, eRC is now represented in eight European countries. The company operates from more than 1200 stores, including Belgacom, Fnac, The Phone House and Media Markt.
According to David Edmondson, CEO of eRC, 58% of customers look for an instant credit when trading in their old mobile, with 68% of these preferring the transaction to take place in the retail outlet.
‘Our solution aligns all the interests from the carrier and the retail partners to the European consumer to incentivise trade-ins and create a new norm in purchasing wireless devices,’ Mr Edmondson says.
