Fibre-to-fibre a hit in Scandinavian fashion

Danish clothing brand Ganni has signed an offtake agreement with Ambercycle to secure access to its regenerated polyester brand cycora.

The partnership should allow the luxury brand to integrate circular material at commercial scale.

Ambercycle will provide recycled polyester treated at its facility in Los Angelos so Ganni can replace its current mix of 20% virgin polyester and recycled bottles.

The US recycler, founded in 2015, is prioritising the transition to fibre-to-fibre recycling. It has diverted over 1.2 million tonnes of textiles from landfill to date.

Runway success

The partnership began with a 30% cycora jersey that launched in November 2023. A second style, made with 70% cycora, is said to showcase the material’s scalability and performance. These items have validated cycora’s high quality and ease of supply chain integration, laying the foundation for its adoption at scale.

This was followed by Ganni’s collection at Paris Fashion Week which featured three pieces incorporating the recycled material.

The Danish brand aims to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% by 2027 from a 2021 baseline. It also wants to include at least 10% of ‘fabrics of the future’ across its collections by the end of this year.

Long-term teamwork

Working together to scale innovative materials is a ‘natural step’ in a commitment to circular, low-impact solutions, according to Ganni founder Nicolaj Reffstrup. ‘There’s an urgent need to support innovators and drive long-term collaboration while holding ourselves accountable for transitioning to better material choices,’ he says.

‘We’re excited to see the impact this collaboration will have in the years ahead.’
