Brazil – Remember the droning hummmmm of the plastic vuvuzelas at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa? The good news for soccer fans is they won’t be at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. But the bad news is you will be hearing a new, and possibly more annoying, sound next year.
The FIFA world football association and Brazil′s Ministry of Sport have introduced the caxirola – a green and yellow (the colours of Brazil′s national team) piece of recycled plastic that makes a rattling sound. The new instrument, revealed earlier this week by Brazilian musician and songwriter Carlinhos Brown, looks like a cross between a rattle and a percussion instrument. Reports say it will retail for US$ 7 to US$ 15.
