Upstate Shredding wins Platts Global Metals Award

United States – Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman has been named the world’s leader in scrap and recycling by Platts.

The US company was one of five finalists for the publication’s 2014 Industry Leadership – Scrap & Recycling award. According to the scrap firm’s owner Adam Weitsman, the award is a great honour and attests to the company’s commitment to operational excellence and strong growth strategies.

Nominees were considered from around the world, and judges selected finalists and winners in each category based on their achievements, financial results, leadership, integrity, job growth and operational excellence.

Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman, which currently runs 18 locations in New York and Pennsylvania, expects to process more than 1 million tonnes of ferrous and 250 million pounds of non-ferrous metal this year while generating US$ 1 billion in sales.
