Austria – Austrian company Loacker Recycling has acquired the Swiss firms M F Hügler and Gotthard Schnyder, both part of the same group, for an undisclosed price. The businesses specialise in scrap metal recycling, and Hügler is also active in the plastic scrap, waste paper and cardboard markets.
‘The purchase is a logical and strategic step in our corporate development in Switzerland. Scrap metal recycling and recovery in times of scarce resources is becoming increasingly important,’ commented Karl Loacker, ceo of Loacker Recycling.
Welcoming the 140 new employees, he said he was eager to pool resources and exploit the synergies between the companies, and stressed that the new subsidiaries would continue to play a ‘crucial role’ in future scrap metal recycling efforts from their existing sites.
Marco Trautmann, ceo of the acquired parties, was enthusiastic about the deal. ‘In Loacker Recycling we have found a recycler with the same quality ideals. We will benefit from each other’s expertise and experiences,’ he stated.
