Germany – Thirty years ago, Stahlwerke Bochum (SWB) of Germany launched its so-called ‘differentially hardened’ shredder hammer which has subsequently become a workhorse at scrap yards and other facilities all over the world. Recently, the company’s Bochum-based factory completed its one millionth unit of this wear tool – a milestone celebrated during a special event attended by some 140 employees, international representatives and special guests.
SWB’s managing director and co-owner Bruno Mayer, together with his partners Wolfgang Callies and Stephan O. Mayer, thanked the attendees for their ‘continuing dedication to the company’s success’. SWB’s ‘best seller’ is used in 48 countries; exports account for 75% of the company’s turnover and main customers are the USA and Canada, followed by France, the UK, Belgium, Spain and Japan.
SWB also used the occasion as the launch-pad for its new website, written in six languages and optimised for mobile device displays.
