Stuart B. Padnos passes away at 90

United States – Stuart B. Padnos, Senior Vice President of leading US recycler Louis Padnos Iron & Metal Company, has died at the age of 90. In partnership with Seymour Padnos, he had begun running the company bearing the family name as long ago as 1946.

The company traces its origins back to 1905 when Russian immigrant Louis Padnos settled in Holland, Michigan, and set up a service-orientated, scrap peddling operation. Stuart and Seymour Padnos grew up helping out in the family business, which went on to become a major, multi-site player in the recycling sphere. After graduating from high school, Stuart entered the University of Michigan and, alongside Seymour, began taking over the management of the company after the Second World War.

In addition to steering the continued development of the business, Stuart became well known for his sculptures – some of which can be seen on the company’€™s premises.
