Asia – Officials from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China (HKSAR) will address the BIR’s International Trade Council (ITC) and International Environment Council (IEC) meetings at the world recycling organisation’s upcoming convention in Hong Kong on May 22-24.

Gary Tam, senior environmental protection officer within the compliance division of the HKSAR Environment Protection Department, will provide IEC delegates with an insight into Hong Kong’s scrap import/export controls, with a particular focus on the e-waste trade and the waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) control scheme to be rolled out later this year.

The IEC meeting is scheduled for May 24. Two days earlier, Hon-Meng Wong, assistant director of waste reduction & recycling in the HKSAR Environment Protection Department, will provide the ITC meeting with an overview of waste recycling in Hong Kong.
