Safety platform to help cut accidents at US scrap yards

United States – Announced at its annual convention in Las Vegas, the US Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) has now officially launched its Circle of Safety Excellence, a member-driven effort to promote and encourage safety at recycling facilities across the USA and to reduce the number of accidents occurring at scrap yards.

‘The programme is designed for every ISRI member company willing to embrace a new safety norm,’ confirms ISRI chair Doug Kramer. ‘Entry into the Circle is not easy or automatic.’ Companies committed to operating safely must have a safety management programme and must be willing to ‘share injury data on an annual basis’ as well as to participate in a group benchmarking programme. Furthermore, they should be willing ‘to outreach to others in the industry regarding the promotion of safe practices’.
