The Recycling Education and Research Foundation (RERF) wants to encourage youngsters to pursue a career in the recycling industry by offering dedicated scholarships.
The US organisation is currently accepting applications for its 2021 national scholarship, each one of which is worth US$ 5000 (EUR 4100). ‘RERF continues to look towards the next generation to move the recycling industry forward,’ says company president Kevin Lamar. ‘The industry needs individuals who are looking to provide solutions and to advance the industry with innovative technology and policies.
The scholarship deadline is 1 June, 2021 and the winners will be announced in August. Last year, about a hundred US students benefited from the scholarship programme.
‘If you have a passion for recycling and for the advancement of sustainability, we encourage you to apply and learn more about the scrap recycling industry,’ Lamar says.
RERF has offered more than US$ 1.6 million in scholarships to 1200 undergraduates, graduates and military veterans over the last 19 years. Thanks to generous donations from people within the industry, it has also been able to fund research projects beneficial to the recycling industry.
The Recycling Education and Research Foundation is closely associated with the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI).
