United Kingdom / Germany | UK equipment manufacturer Recycle Direct celebrates ten years in the recycling industry by joining forces with German safety system manufacturer U-Tech gmbh.
Concerns about accident rates within the recycling industry prompted the UK company to search for a product that would automatically shut down machinery should any person come into close proximity with any dangerous situation.
The majority of accidents within the recycling industry are caused by balers and conveyors, and the new U-Tech system works to ensure that the baler, conveyor and complete line shuts down automatically, with no need for any human interaction, should any person enter, or come close to any potentially hazardous area.
According to Recycle Direct, the system also works should the person become unconscious due to accident or illness, and the baler, conveyor, and complete system will shut down automatically without the need for the operator or any other persons to activate anything manually.
The system also has an optional feature that can be installed to ensure only trained and certified operators can start up and use the equipment
The system guarantees to prevent accidents and is the only system in the UK that is approved to the european standards directive EN954 part 1 Category 2
Recycle Direct MD Nigel Davies says, ’We look forward to working to reduce the accident rates within the industry. Interest in the product has been amazing and we already have six systems installed in the UK’
With responsibilities becoming increasingly defined by the relatively new Corporate manslaughter directive, this system goes a long way towards giving peace of mind to Directors and owners of companies, health and safety advisers, and employees. Installing the system can also reduce insurance premiums.
U-Tech gmbh have also developed a system that reduces the risk to site operatives by vehicles reversing and moving around recycling sites and this is expected to launch in the UK during the summer.
