Dr Michael Kühl has been elected as the new President of the European Recovered Paper Association (ERPA), BIR’s daughter association covering recovered paper recycling in the EU. He succeeds Maarten Kleiweg de Zwaan of the Netherlands, who is stepping down after more than a decade. Dr Kühl is Managing Director of the Kühl Group of companies which has its headquarters in Diedorf, Germany. One of the country’€™s leading recovered paper companies, Kühl is also active in other secondary raw material sectors such as plastics, glass, electronics and green waste, and provides waste management services to local authorities via kerbside collection of household wastes and recyclables.

* Rickmer Hatecke
Cronimet Holding, the German group involved in the marketing, production and recycling of alloy raw materials used by the stainless steel industry, has appointed Rickmer Hatecke as Managing Director of its daughter company Metalloy Metalle-Legierungen (MML) of Norderstedt, also in Germany. MML is engaged in the recycling of superalloys and nickel-, cobalt- and titanium-based high-performance materials used in vacuum metallurgy. Mr Hatecke had been responsible for commercial management since his arrival at MML in May 2005.
Meanwhile, Jürgen Albracht has been appointed Director of Sales and Projects at Cronimet Ferrolegierungen.

* Ray Petermeyer
The Paper Stock Industries (PSI) Chapter of the US Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) has presented its fourth annual Phil Alpert Memorial Award to Ray Petermeyer. The award is given to an individual who has contributed 10 years of leadership to the PSI Chapter as well as to the welfare of the recovered paper industry. Mr Petermeyer has spent 54 years in the recovered paper industry, starting out as a weigh-master and rising to the position of operations manager within several paper recycling companies. He started up E-Z Recycling of Portland, Oregon, which went on to merge with Far West Fibers.
