United States – US-based Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman has opened a new US$ 15 million scrap metal operation at the Port of Albany in the state of New York that significantly enhances the company’s export potential.
The Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman family of companies calls the new facility ‘a crowning achievement for the organisation’. Owner and president Adam Weitsman comments: ‘After 13 years of hard work and dedication by our entire organisation, opening at the Port of Albany makes this dream come true and sets our company firmly on the path to reaching our goal of US$ 1 billion in annual sales.’ According to Weitsman, having direct access to export facilities will ‘greatly hone our competitive edge and allow us to further tap into domestic and worldwide markets’.
At least 40 full-time jobs have been created at the facility, with up to 60 full-time positions expected by the time the facility is at full capacity. Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman runs more than a dozen locations throughout New York and Pennsylvania.
