The AlphaCutter series is a slow-running single-shaft shredder for difficult materials with high throughput quantities. In three different rotor sizes ranging from 2200 to 3700 millimetres in length, the new development can prepare up to 50 tonnes per hour.
’Particularly in the area of domestic and commercial waste as well as with heavy materials such as mattresses, HGV tarpaulin covers and large pressed bales, the progress is huge,’ says MeWa Managing Director Ulrich Hink, listing the main application areas of the new machine. Furthermore, the AlphaCutter is ideally suited for the preparation of bulky waste. But the slow-running rotor also shreds solid metal parts with remarkable persistency. The heavy weight of the machine and the arrangement of the blades ensure stability and vibration-free operation.
The pre-shredding machine is supplemented with a compatible further processing line consisting of granulator, conveyor and separation technology, thus providing an ideal solution for the production of residue derived fuels. Here, MeWa offers the complete technology from one source, from the conceptual planning to the turnkey system.
The new machine shreds the materials into equal, approximately palm-sized pieces. The result supplies ideal requirements for the subsequent granulation process. Thanks to the manner of pre-shredding, it was possible to increase the throughput in the granulator by more than 30 per cent,’€™ says ‘€˜Mr Hink, describing the performance of the new development.
The AlphaCutter series is available in different rotor cutter lengths: The version L with a length of 2200 millimetres has a throughput of 20 to 25 tonnes per hour; the XL in the size 3200 can prepare up to 35 tonnes of waste. The largest machine, the Alpha Cutter XXL 3700, weighs around 60 tonnes and is equipped with a rotor almost four metres in length. The pre-shredder is thus the largest, heaviest and most powerful machine on the market in this application area, says MeWa. With its cutting plates forged out of special steel, the new development from MeWa manages more than 35 tonnes of mixed waste per hour in permanent operation.
