Leading UK scrap metal processor S. Norton & Co Ltd of Manchester has acquired a majority shareholding in pioneering plastics recycler Axion Recycling Ltd. The Â£3 million (Euro 4.5 million/US$ 5.7 million) investment encompasses a 40 000 square foot facility at Salford, Manchester, which was previously occupied by a major producer of high-grade virgin plastic compounds. Axion’s recycled products are high-grade compounded polymers – including polypropylene, polyethylene and polystyrene – which will be sold under the ’Axpoly’€™ brand name.
* Interseroh Jade-Stahl
[platte tekst]German metals recycler Interseroh Jade-Stahl (IJS) of Wilhelmshaven has acquired Bremen-based Erwin Meyer Metallrecycling. As from August 1, the company has been renamed Interseroh Erwin Meyer Metallrecycling GmbH. The acquisition boosts IJS’€™ market presence in the north west of Germany.
IJS is part of the Cologne-based Interseroh Group and now operates three metal recycling yards in north west Germany – at Wilhelmshaven, Hannover and Bremen. IJS processes more than 140 000 tonnes of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap each year, which it sells to foundries and steel mills.
* TSR Recycling
Recently sold to a consortium, Germany-based TSR Recycling has begun operations at its yard in Dresden, Germany, where the focus is on processing steel scrap. Under the direction of Christine Weiland, material will be loaded directly into ships. The Dresden yard strengthens the company’€™s market position in the east of the country and also offers a convenient base for co-operative ventures with TSR’€™s yards in the Czech Republic. TSR Recycling runs more than 80 operations and subsidiaries in Europe; last year, its turnover amounted to around Euro 1.5 billion.
