The Netherlands – The Auping Essential bed surround is the first bed in the world that has been awarded with a Cradle to Cradle Silver certificate, becoming the first Dutch bed manufacturer for Cradle to Cradle (C2C).
This certificate guarantees that the bed consists for more than 50% of recycled materials or materials that are recyclable. Auping’s new collection of mattresses have also been awarded with this certificate. Auping has been long engaged in corporate social responsibility (CSR)m meaning, among other things, that it is ‘constantly aware of the impact that the production of our beds has on the environment, and we do everything to hold that environment for future generations. So we choose responsible and safe production and use environmentally friendly materials wherever possible, such as paints, CFC-free foam and PEFC wood,’ the company says. Cradle to Cradle at Auping.
By 2020 Auping aims to be a C2C company in every aspect. ‘We will achieve this goal by tuning our operational management to this philosophy and designing all our products according to the principles of C2C. This means that at the end of their user period, products can be reused as high-quality organic or technical nutrients,’ Auping says in a press release.
